TURNKEY NEW BUILDING IN TIMBER CONSTRUCTION

Schlegel GmbH is proud to have successfully completed the turnkey construction of the new kindergarten in Velbert. This impressive project is a semi-circular, single-storey building in timber construction, which is not only aesthetically pleasing, but also embodies energy-efficient and sustainable construction. With a construction period of 14 months, the kindergarten was completed in September 2022 and covers a total area of approximately 3,400 square metres, including the outdoor facilities. Schlegel GmbH took over all services and realised the entire building with the highest expertise and care.

A special focus was placed on the use of wood as a renewable raw material, which was used in many places in the construction. The façade of the building was also clad in wood, which not only gives a natural and warm impression, but also contributes to a positive CO2 balance. Furthermore, a state-of-the-art photovoltaic system was installed on the roof, which helps to generate renewable energy and cover the kindergarten's energy needs. In addition, green roofs were installed, which not only reduce the environmental impact but also allow the building to integrate harmoniously into the surrounding environment. The sustainable heating of the building deserves special mention. An efficient geothermal heat pump uses natural geothermal energy to heat the kindergarten's premises in a climate-neutral way. This innovative technology ensures that the kindergarten is CO2-neutral throughout the year, which not only means a positive environmental balance, but also leads to lower operating costs.
